About • Jason Lee

Being an avid computer enthusiast and gamer for most of his life (i.e. big time nerd), Jason is self taught in just about everything he has learned from an application development perspective.

Beginning at a young age he was introduced to the world of computers through the most unlikely place, the movie theatre. The year was 1983 and the movie was “WarGames.” Upon leaving the theatre he quickly recounted his experience describing to his father, these wondrous devices called computers. Jason was amazed with all they could do and told his father how much he wanted to enter this relatively new world of computers. Being only 13 at the time, terms like 'suspending disbelief' had not yet existed in his young mind. So if a computer could talk and communicate with a schools computer via a simple phone line as it did on the 'big screen' than surely he could do the same if he had a computer.

A short time later, his father took a chance on what he hoped would not turn out to be a passing interest and purchased Jason a Texas Instruments 4/A computer, with a whopping 4k of memory, one of the first personal computers on the market. It should be noted that Jason was a little disappointed at first to discover that personal computers did not come with the ability to 'talk' nor did they have a phone modem, so his early plans of hacking into his schools computer while his computer 'read' his grades to him had to be put on hold for awhile. The rest, as they say, is history, as 26 years later his early curiosity has grown into his full time passion.

Throughout all the years, regardless of where he has found himself, Jason's various computers have never been far from his side. Life having a way of putting all of us into some interesting and unexpected situations, the ability to adapt to the challenge at hand has been very useful.

As an example, while traveling abroad in Malaysia Jason learned to use Adobe Photoshop and some functional C+ programming for a series of program CD's that were sold through several local software vendors. Years later those very skills would allow him to venture into the realm of interactive web development where he continues to this day.

Having worked with several development studios over the years, Jason has always taken the time to learn from those around him as everyone has a unique style and way of doing things. It never ceases to astound him that having been in this industry since its inception, he still learns something new every day and for that he feels very fortunate.
